Recently (October 2006), in the back pages of my local newspaper, I
noticed that 22.6 million American taxpayer dollars had been allocated and
used (through FEMA) for therapeutic Bingo! and Mother
Nature/Gaia-friendly "Windy Biggie" puppet plays designed to help
alleviate stress among Wilma/Katrina hurricane victims in Florida.

Well, that's strange enough. But in the same report, I also learned that
those same millions of U.S. government tax-payer dollars were used to teach
yoga lessons to the hurricane- battered communities
(presumably) to help the recipients cope and find peace of mind in the midst
of their hurricane-enduced psychic turmoil.
Well, ....puppets and Bingo!...that's one thing. After
all, we've all come to expect this sort of Big Brother/
government-sponsored, touchy-feely, silly nonsense from some quarters of
the political spectrum.....
But what about U.S. tax dollars for
yoga?
The last time I checked "yoga"
(ie., physical or
hatha
yoga) was one of Hinduism's centuries-old meditative paths to
'Enlightenment', 'Serenity', "Bliss/Cosmic Consciousness" and 'Cosmic
Oneness' with the transcendent Brahman. In fact, "yoga",
means to be yoked or united to this pantheistic concept of
the impersonal 'god' of Hinduism.....the Life Force (aka.
"the Ground of all Being"). Yoga is one of Hinduism's tools to
help man realize that he is really "at one" with the Cosmos and "at one"
with the 'interconnected web" of all existence and Nature's true Being.
In a nutshell, yoga is designed to help us discover that in our
purest essence you and I are God*....or, as the Hindu
sacred Upanishads states it: "Thou art That". It
is Eastern Mysticism's answer to the problem of the human condition.
This, of course, is basically the same Pantheist Bandwagon that The New
Age, Green-Gaia-Life-Force-Nature-worshipers (ie. Wicca/witchcraft) have all
climbed aboard lately. Green "New Age" Pantheism is in fact very, very
old...... Basically, it's the same old Pantheist Storyline: God is
Nature. Nature is God. Thou art That.

[ Hmmmm....One might wonder where Barry Lynn and the ACLU stand
on this matter.
Is the practice of pantheistic ("Thou art that") Hinduism via the path
of hatha yoga acceptable to Barry Lynn and the politically correct
ACLU separation-of-and-church-and-state watchdogs? Or does
government-sponsored and government-funded religious pantheism get
a Barry Lynn/ACLU 'watchdog pass'? ]
