"Ode to
Albert's Shield"
He saw the writing in the heavens,
That proclaim his fathers' God...
He saw the script displayed before him,
But he still could not applaud.
He saw the paragraphs and letters,
He saw the type...he saw the signs.
He recognized some Author's genius,
But wouldn't read between the lines.
Einstein tiptoed 'round the outskirts,
Of the Grand Designer's home,
Never daring to approach there...
Leaving well enough alone.
He loved the Glory of the Physics,
And the math equation clues,
He loved the Idols of the Intellect,
But not Him who sent Good News.
He held the Key to Godly wisdom,
In his head right from the start!
But Albert stumbled at the stumbling stone...
God's Key is for the heart.
He stood in awe of all creation,
And marvelled at the grand design...
But Relativity was calling him;
To The Designer he was blind.
Al detected nature's meter,
And was taken by its rhyme.
But he ignored all nature's Poet,
Who dwells outside creation's Time.
He saw the paint...He saw the color,
The composition and the line.
But The Artist? He avoided,
While paying homage to the mind.
There was no need to upset idols,
That he worshipped reverently;
The "facts" he figured filled him....
The Way of Relativity.

And like Albert we're reluctant,
To approach that awe-full Light,
That exposes Idol Pridefulness...
The Sin that is our blight.
We hide behind our intellect...
Human Reason is our Shield.
We dare not peek around it,
Lest our heart might be revealed.
So that option's not acceptable...
There's way too much at stake!
We love the Idol Throne we rule from....
To peek's a risk we just can't take.
So, back off, Father Poet!
Creator Artist! In Your place!
We're quite comfy staying hidden,
Behind this Shield...our "regal space".

Dear Lord...O God, forgive us,
For staying hid among the trees.
We're frightened of Your Holy Gaze ,
And ashamed of Pride's disease.
Deep down we know we're guilty,
Of transgressing Holy Law.
But, Lord! How can we face You?!
Because our Sin You always saw!
Son of David, Lord...Have mercy!
Remove this shield...our Human Pride.
We hunger for Your Righteousness,
And mourn the way we hide.
Give us Grace, dear Lord, to seek You.
We're blind beggers, but we see,
That the Sin that dwells within us,
Nailed You there on Calvr'y's tree.

"As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was
sitting by the roadside begging....He called out,
'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!'....
Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to
him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 'What do you
want me to do for you?' "
'Lord, I want to see,' he replied.
Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight; your
faith has healed you.' " (Luke 18: 35...42)
"If nature proved God clearly, we would not have to
search for him with all our hearts." -Peter Kreeft
"Where is the wise man? Who is the scholar?
Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made
foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom
of God the world through its wisdom did not know him,
God was pleased through the foolishness of what was
preached to save those who believe." (1
Corinthians 1: 20,21)
"Therefore once more I will astound astound
these people
with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish,
the intelligence of the intelligent will
vanish. " (Isaiah 29: 14)
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and
thirst for righteousness, for they
will be filled." (Matthew 5:3-6)
